History of GUI

Graphical User Interface began in the 1960s, with the development of the first computer systems that used graphical elements, such as pictures and icons, to interact with the user. The first GUI was the Sketchpad, developed by Ivan Sutherland in 1963, it was a program that allowed users to create drawings using a light pen and a computer screen, it was a significant step towards the development of the modern graphical interface.

In the 1970s, Xerox developed the first personal computer, the Xerox Alto, which featured a graphical interface that used icons and a mouse to navigate. This marked the first time a graphical interface was used on a personal computer, and it was a major influence on the development of the Macintosh and the first personal computer with a GUI, the Apple Lisa in 1983.
