We first started off by quickly writing what branding means to us on a post it note and putting on the board. I decided to write “The feeling associated with a product/service”

Started looking at branding for a digital bank. We first are going to conduct our research for this project

Banking Websites

Visiting banking websites shows how each is targeting a different demographic. The likes of HSBC , Bank of Ireland and Bank of Scotland have a much more serious feel to the webpage as well as being overcrowded with lots of options compared to the likes of Revolut and Monzo where the interface is made super simple and appealing to a younger more tech savvy audience. Also another factor I’ve noticed is that old traditional bank websites tend to use more sharper geometric shapes while newer digital banking tend to aim towards more free form shapes and curves.

Mobile Centered

Digital newer banks don’t even offer web access and is all through its mobile presence which is obviously catered to a younger audience as phones are there main use of technology compared to an older demographic who may primarily use computers / laptops.

Using Finder (https://www.finder.com/uk/kids-banking-statistics) I was able to see the stats for Children using banking

3 in 5 (61%) children in the UK aged between 10 and 15 use an app to manage their money.
