Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is a document adopted by the United Nations in 1948 that outlines the fundamental rights and freedoms to which all human beings are entitled. It includes 30 articles that cover a range of civil, political, economic, social, and cultural rights. It includes the right to life, liberty and security of person, freedom from torture, freedom of thought, conscience and expression, freedom from discrimination, the right to work and education, the right to marry and have a family, and many other rights. The Declaration asserts that these rights are inherent to all human beings, regardless of race, colour, gender, language, religion, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. It also states that these rights should be protected by the rule of law, and that any person whose rights have been violated should have access to an effective remedy. Additionally, the declaration sets the standard of the rights, any member of the united nations is obligated to follow, and the human rights are considered as interdependent and indivisible

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights serves as the foundation for many national and international laws and is considered to be a milestone in the development of human rights.
